ガイ・ベルトランロス・グラシオーソ

Musician and composer specializing in Occitan music, Guy Bertrand is originally from Toulouse. As an ethnomusicologist, he taught at the University of Toulouse Le Mirail and in the musicology department of the University Lumière Lyon 2. By devoting the bulk of his research to Gypsy and Romani music, Guy Bertrand is the author of the book "Les Musiciens Gitans de la Rumba" published by Editions de la Flandonnière and co-author with Bernard Giglio of the film La Casa de la Rumba. As a producer of musical events and concerts, he created a tribute concert to the musical work of Manitas de Plata in collaboration with conductor Ernesto Burgos Osorio and guitarist Kema Baliardo, the grandson of Manitas de Plata, in 2021 at the Théâtre de la Mer in Sète. With stage director Maurice Durozier, an actor at the Théâtre du Soleil of Ariane Mnouchkine, he has recently created the "Romancero Gitan del Vernet" as part of the program "Parlem une cultura viva," supported by the Occitanie Regional Council, which features the Gypsy Musicians group from Perpignan, Los Graciosos. He is the director of the RUMBA NAMA Festival, which takes place annually in Perpignan's historic venues.

Los Graciososは、ルンバ・ジプシー"Rumba Gitana"（1950年代にバルセロナ近郊の活気あるジプシーエリアから生まれ、のちに南仏のカマルグにルーツを持つ）の新しいサウンドを作り出しています。伝説的なギタリストのマニタス・デ・プラタやジプシー・キングスの後継者であり、彼らに創造的でダイナミックな影響を受け、2018年にCortes、Ximenez、Gabarriの三家の従兄弟たちでグループを結成しました。グループ名のロス・グラシオーソ（おもしろいもの）は彼らの音楽的な旅を自然に反映しています。
Los Graciososは、カタルーニャのルンバ・ジプシーの伝統的な楽曲を巧みに現代的解釈をすることで高い評価を得ているだけでなく、ルンバとフラメンコを融合したユニークな音楽を独自に作曲し、その分野の貢献でも知られています。Jose Maria "Peruche" Cortesがリーダーとなり、若い才能溢れるメンバーによる力強い歌唱力、独創的な打楽器、そして調和のとれたギターとキーボードのアレンジで躍動感のあるアンサンブルを生み出しています。


このコンサートは、KYOTOGRAPHIE2024メインプログラム04・フランスの写真家であるルシアン・クレルグの展覧会「ジプシー・テンポ」に合わせて企画しました。クレルグはジプシー・コミュニティやマニタス・デ・プラタのポートレートの撮影だけでなく、彼を世界的な評価に導く重要な役割を果たしました。クレルグは「アーティスティック・ディレクション」としてクレジットされていますが、彼はデ・プラタのマネージャーであり、メンターでもありました。クレルグのディレクションのおかげで、マニタスはカマルグでの地元の有名人から、NYのカーネギーホールで14回も公演を果たすなど、日本を含む国際舞台で名声を集めるようになりました。
