The "Aquele Abraço Tour" celebrates Gilberto Gil's 60-year career and the 50th anniversary of his world tour that began in 1971. The tour title "Aquele Abraço" is the title of Gil's 1969 hit song, meaning "hug/welcome/take care."

The concert will be performed with a family band and feature many of Gil's famous songs sung by himself, his son and grandson in a homely atmosphere filled with the familial characteristics of Brazilians, Gil’s music and the diversity of Brazilian culture.

Artist アーティスト

GILBERTO GIL

Born in 1942 in Bahia, Brazil. To date, Gilberto Gil has released over 60 albums, sold over four million copies, and won nine Grammy Awards.
In the 1960s he launched the pop culture movement "Tropicalismo" with Brazilian composer and singer, Caetano Veloso. Due to his radical approach, Gil was targeted by the military government at the time, and he went into exile in London with Caetano for about two and a half years. There, he was exposed to rock and R&B which broadened his musical horizons.
In 2002, he became Brazil's Minister of Culture. He has received many awards and medals from various countries, including UNESCO Artist of Peace (1999), Ambassador to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), France's Légion d'honneur (2005), and Sweden's Polar Music Prize (2005).
His 2018 album "OK OK OK" showed Gil’s creative drive shows no signs of slowing down even as he gets older, and is highly regarded as his best work of the century.
In 2021, he was the first active musician to be elected as a permanent member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, and in April of this year, the Brazilian post office issued a stamp with Gil's portrait, receiving remarkable social recognition.
