Rising Brazilian singer-songwriter Dora Morelenbaum, a new voice carrying forward the traditions of Brazilian music, will make her Japan debut with a special performance at Rōfū-tei Reception Hall, set within the historic Japanese garden of Shōsei-en in Kyoto.
Born into a musical family—her father, cellist Jaques Morelenbaum, and her mother, jazz singer Paula Morelenbaum—Dora grew up surrounded by music. Both of her parents shared a long-standing creative relationship with Ryuichi Sakamoto, and this rich musical lineage quietly resonates within her own work.
Immersed in music-making from an early age, Dora draws on the traditions of bossa nova and MPB, while fluidly weaving in elements of classical, jazz, and post-Tropicália Brazilian sounds. The result is a delicate, contemporary musical world that balances nostalgia with experimentation. She is also known as a member of the Grammy Award-winning band Bala Desejo, and has gained international recognition for her intimate, crystalline vocals.
For this performance, she will appear as a duo with Rio de Janeiro-based guitarist and producer Guilherme Lirio, known for his collaborations with artists such as Ana Frango Elétrico and Nicolas Jaar.
Set against the gentle beauty of a spring garden, this performance offers a uniquely atmospheric experience where space and sound dissolve into one. A fitting finale to the festival, and a moment to be remembered.

Rōfū-tei Reception Hall is nestled within the Shōsei-en Garden of Higashi Hongan-ji Temple.
Shōsei-en is a garden belonging to Higashi Hongan-ji, situated on a detached temple precinct. In 1641 during the Edo period, the third shogun, Tokugawa Iemitsu, donated this land, and was designed with the style of Ishikawa Jozan in mind. The garden is filled with seasonal flowers, and its varied landscape is known as one of the "Thirteen Views." In 1936 (Showa 11), it was designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty as a Buddhist temple garden brimming with literary taste.
